Melodie

Like the Melophonic phonograph, the Made-in-Canada Melodie phonograph was sold exclusively in western Canada beginning in 1925. All of the ads we have found are from Woodward Department Store, a historic Canadian retail chain, with its flagship location built in 1903 at the corner of Hastings and Abbott Streets in Vancouver, British Columbia. The Melodie phonograph was designed specifically for Woodwards, likely by The George McLagan Furniture Co., Limited, Stratford, Ontario.

Vancouver Sun, August 5, 1925, p. 9. "Once again Woodwards have proven conclusively that a phonograph of the highest quality of workmanship, design and materials can be manufactured in Canada at a big saving for our customers."
