The Melophonic phonograph was "designed to our own rigid specifications by Canada's best phonograph manufacturer." In most cases, this signifies that The George McLagan Furniture Co., Limited, Stratford, Ontario was the manufacturer. The Melophonic was marketed exclusively in British Columbia, especially at Woodward Department Stores. This western Canadian chain of department stores also marketed a Made-in-Canada phonograph labelled Melodie which was also likely manufactured by McLagan.
