Canadian Furniture World and the Undertaker, August 1917, p. 42: "The Victoria Talking Machine Co., Ltd., 315 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, has been incorporated with a capital stock of $20,000 by J. Horn, J. T. Maloney, May C. Smith, and others, to manufacture musical instruments, talking machines, etc."
From September through December 1917, The Victory Talking Machine Co. Ltd. placed several ads in the Winnipeg Tribune for Imperial phonographs, "the wonderful sweet-tone Imperial talking machines". These machines were stock purchased from the Imperial Mfg. Co. It is not known whether the manufacturer was the Imperial Phonograph Corporation in Owen Sound, Ontario or some other Imperial company. The line art illustration in the ad for the Imperial talking machine is identical to the illustration in the June 29, 1917 ad for the Victoria phonograph. (see the Imperial page.
