Phonola Co. of Canada

In 1917 the phonograph business of the Pollock Mfg. Co., Ltd., Kitchener, Ontario, maker of the Phonola line of phonographs, was transferred to the Phonola Co. of Canada, Ltd.

The Phonola Company operated two factories: the newly-acquired factory at Elmira, Ontario manufactured phonograph cabinets. Their Kitchener factory was devoted to the manufacture of accessories - motors, tone-arms, reproducers and other parts, which they sold to other phonograph manufacturers.

Phonola Co. of Canada was not effected by the sale of the Pollock Mfg. Co. Ltd. in 1919 to the General Phonograph Corporation, formerly Otto Heineman Phonograph Supply Co., Inc. The plant of the Pollock Mfg. Co., Ltd., at Kitchener became an integral part of the general Phonograph Corporation's string of plants in the U.S. devoted to the manufacture of phonograph accessories. In August 1919, Pollock Mfg. Co. Ltd. introduced their Motor C 2.
