Newbigging Cabinet Company, Ltd., 164 King Street West, Hamilton, Ontario began business in 1906 selling "something new": patent lawn and verandah gliding settees. By 1907, they offered desks and office store fittings: "The company is making a specialty of office and store fittings" (Hamilton Spectator, March 17, 1908, p. 7).
In mid 1908, they added Show Cases. "We have stopped Toronto from sending SHOWCASES to Hamilton" (Hamilton Spectator, June 20, 1908, p. 12). By late 1908, they advertised: "Contracts made for quantities of special articles in hardwoods. Show Cases and Store Fittings, Desk, Special Furniture, Grills, etc." (Hamilton Spectator, November 2, 1908, p. 10), Their ads in the Hamilton Spectator continued almost daily through 1911.
In 1912, for the first time, they advertised phonograph cabinets: "Specialists in the Manufacture of Phonograph Record and Player Roll Cabinets" (Canadian Music Trades Journal, August 1912, p. 22).
