The principal distributor of Sonora phonographs in Canada was I. Montagnes & Co., Ryrie Building, 229 Yonge Street, Toronto. By late 1917 Minerva Mfg. Co., Ltd., of Toronto, a newly incorporated firm, was organized for the purpose of manufacturing the Sonora line of phonographs for the Canadian trade at their factory in Bingham, Ontario.
I. Montagnes imported motors from Switzerland for use in its Sonora phonographs and offered phonograph manufacturers exceptional inducements in quality and price for its motors. The company provided main springs, repair parts, needles and phonograph accessories of all kinds to the trade.
